An Interactive Discussion

 A psychologist, academic and an expert on group dynamics, Columbia University’s Dr. Sarah J. Brazaitis, will lead an interactive discussion on gender, race and the group dynamics of our shared world with a particular focus on how white women are essential to untying the Gordian knot of identity politics in the United States, or to tightening it.

Dr. Brazaitis has studied the interplay of race and gender in groups and organizations for nearly two decades and will share her research on these topics as well as relevant examples from her work with women and men in the workplace as part of her executive coaching and consulting practice spanning corporate and not for profit organizations in healthcare, financial services, media and entertainment and technology among others.

Dr. Brazaitis will engage the event participants in an interactive discussion of how all of us (including men and women of all races) can get pigeon-holed into stereotypical roles based on race and gender, why that happens, how we get stuck there, and how to free ourselves and each other to work across our differences to build bridges to a more productive future for all. Dr.  Brazaitis will highlight the relevance of her work to current events including aspects of the Trump presidency and the #metoo movement among others.

Participants will be invited to share their thoughts and reactions as part of the discussion in this interactive session.
